Tooth extraction is sometimes necessary for a top-notch oral health and optimal function. If your dentist, Dr. Christopher Lillo, recommended tooth extraction, whether it’s because your tooth is severely damaged or if it’s causing trouble in the smile, then you are on your way toward a healthy smile. However, this is only the case if you properly recover. So, our dentist is happy to help you recover by giving you the tips you need:

-Make sure to rest for two to three days. Resting is the most important.

-Take the medication your dentist prescribed to you. This should help reduce the pain.

-Reduce bleeding by biting down on a gauze pad until the clot forms. Make sure to switch out the pads when they are full of blood.

-Ice the area with an ice pack to minimize swelling and pain.

-Don’t rinse your mouth or spit within the first 24 hours of the removal.

-Don’t use a straw while you’re healing because it can dislodge the blood clot and cause complications.

-Only have a soft-foods diet while recovering.

-Brush your teeth but be careful along the surgical site while doing so.
